Understanding Atrial Fibrillation

Anatomically speaking, the human heart contains two upper chambers and two lower chambers. The upper chambers are called as the left and right atrium while the lower chambers are referred to as right ventricle and left ventricle.
When the two upper chambers of heart, collectively termed as atria, contract at an abnormally fast and uncontrollable rate in an irregular way, this is termed as atrial fibrillation.
